Did You Know? You Can Customize Your Subsidiary Hierarchy in NetSuite!
Many NetSuite users are surprised to learn that they can modify their Subsidiary Hierarchy. Whether you're consolidating companies, adding a new entity, or simply restructuring your organizations, NetSuite makes it possible to adjust your subsidiary structure to fit your evolving business needs.
In the past, changing the Subsidiary Hierarchy required special permissions from NetSuite. Now, you can take control of your structure and update your account when necessary. Let’s dive into a few quick tips for changing your Subsidiary structure to streamline the process!
Getting Started:
Changing your Subsidiary Hierarchy should be done in a sandbox to verify the changes meet your expectations before making any production changes.
Navigate to Company > General Preferences:
Enter a date that reflects the number of days you want NetSuite to allow modifications to the Subsidiary structure. Setting an expiration date is crucial for maintaining system integrity and preventing unauthorized or unintended changes.
NetSuite will prompt you with a legal notice.
You are required to accept the notice in order for the date to populate correctly.
Once you accept, the date is populated.
Note: This page needs to be saved!
Now you are ready to make your Subsidiary hierarchy modifications.
Select the Subsidiary that requires hierarchy modifications.
The option to modify the Parent Subsidiary field is now available for the duration you set above when accepting the agreement.
